araara [1] {IM} [Noun] trevally (Caranx lutescens).This fish is often found in large schools near the coast. The flesh is white, firm and tasty, ideal for sashimi or baking. Once it was used mainly for bait but it is now found alongside tamure and hapuku in the fish shops. Adult araara grow to about 40 cm. in length (sometimes more).
